Ukraine’s production of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 6.79 million tons in March, up by 13.7% from 5.97 million tons in February, according to UkrRudProm, an association uniting major metal producers.
Data shows, the country''s iron ore output increased by 20.7% month on month in March, while iron ore concentrate increased by 12.5%.
Also, Ukraine mines produced 19.27 million tons of iron ore and 16 million tons of iron ore concentrate in the first quarter of 2011.
In fact, Ukraine holds some of world''s largest iron ore deposits and produces 4.5% of world''s total iron ore output. In 2010, the country produced 78.15 million tons of iron ore and concentrate.
