CIS''s mills have cut their export prices of pig iron to US and Europe for October in the past two weeks due to sluggish demand and decreasing price on pig iron in Brazil.
It is reported that the export price of pig iron released from Ukrainian mills is nearly $440/ton FOB this week, down by $5~10/ton from two weeks ago. Similarly, the export price from Russia has reduced by same cost to $470/ton FOB and sold out already for October, according to Russian mills.
However, the prices are difficult to position into US steel market from CIS due to keen competition against Brazilian steelmakers, which offer the export prices of pig iron to US about $420/ton FOB.
