DJ reported that Saudi Arabia''s steel production rose 19% to 3.05 million tonnes in the first 7 months of 2010 from 2.56 million tonnes in the year earlier period.
The World Steel Association said that the kingdom''s 2010 seven month steel production grew just 3.8% when compared with 2.94 million tonnes in the same period of 2008.
Saudi steel production hit 400,000 tonnes in July up 15% from 347,000 tonnes in July 2009 and up 6.2% from 376,000 tonnes in July 2008.
Saudi Arabia came in second position in steel production in July among Arab countries after Egypt which produced that month 557,000 tonnes and Qatar came in the third place with an output of 160,000 tonnes.
