Japanese scrap price surges on supply shortages- 24 Aug 10

It is reported that Japan''s scrap price continued to soar this week. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co Limited has increased its scrap purchasing price by JPY 1,500 to JPY 2,000 per tonne in the local market.
The latest deal price for Japan H2 in South Korean reached USD 358 per tonne and the offer to Taiwan was at USD 395 per tonne.
It is expected that scrap offer will reach USD 400 per tonne in the near future due to short supply.
