Iran steel production surging upward- 11 Aug 10

At the moment Iran is capable of producing 18 million tones of steel every year and the ministry of industries and mines has plans for growing this number to 45 mt /y, although by more participation of private sector.

Around six years ago, between steel producer countries, Iran was the 23rd, and it has risen to 16 during last current years.

Establishment of 8 steel projects in 8 less developed regions is a big step upward which 25% of the projects have been finished.

It’s notable that Iranian government strictly supports these projects, as steel industry influence countries development process significantly.

By the Iranian government supports privatizing state owned plants, capacity utilization of steel industry will rise and the companies would gain more profits.

These days, a steel making plant in Iran with production capacity of 1.5 mt /y can start production in less than 3 years.
