Prices for coking coal in July are decreasing in Asian and global market due to high stocks and reduction of demand from China.Average contracting prices for Q3 are $225 per ton of hard coking coal, $172/t of semi-soft coal, $180/t of dusty material for injection into blast furnaces. However, spot market prices for hard coking coal moved down from $260/t in April to $212/t in July. The process of decrease of coal prices is going in parallel with decrease of prices for iron ore, another vital material for steelmaking.
