It is reported that steelmaking companies in Ukraine plan to cut their pig iron smelting by 1.3% to 2.270 million tonnes, steel smelting by 1.4% to 2.720 million tonnes, finished steel by 4.9% to 2.530 million tonnes in August compared to July 2010.
Mr Vasily Kharahulah MD of Metallurgprom said daily average pig iron production in August is planned at the level of 73,200 tonnes, crude steel 87,700 tonnes and finished steel 81,600 tonnes.
In accordance with his words to provide the mentioned production levels in August, steelmakers will require 785 tonnes of iron ore, 1.01 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate, 290,000 tonnes of sinter, 785,000 tonnes of pellets, 915,000 tonnes of limestone, 1.22 million tonnes of coke and 440,000 tonnes of steel scrap.
To meet these requirements, it is supposed to import 70,000 tonnes of iron ore, 60,000 tonnes of iron ore concentrate, 650,000 tonnes of coking coal.
As in has been reported before, production program of Ukrainian steelmakers for July 2010 is 2.3 million tonnes of pig iron, 2.76 million tonnes of crude steel and 2.66 million tonnes of finished steel.
