According to the statistics released by US International Trade Commission, US steel scrap exports amounted to 7.95 million tonnes in the January to May 2010 period, down by 10.85% YoY.
In the first 5 months of 2010, US steel scrap exports to Turkey amounted to 1.53 million tonnes, up by 3.21% YoY, while US steel scrap exports to South Korea totaled 1.41 million tonnes, up by 22.45% YoY and its steel scrap exports to China came to 1.21 million tonnes, down by 59.01% YoY.
In the given period, among the top 10 US steel scrap export destinations, the most striking YoY growth rate is registered in steel scrap exports to Malaysia, with 405,354 tonnes of steel scrap as compared to 5,042 tonnes in the first 5 months of 2009.
