The situation in the Turkish billet market is uncertain. The local offers are sporadic and mills are reluctant to cut prices setting the offers at $585-590/t exw ($5/t down in a week). Amid low demand for finished longs, exporters, to the contrary, are focusing on sales of billet – they have reduced prices by $10/t, to $570-590/t fob. Some producers, Colakoglu among them, has slashed prices even more sharply offering billet for export at an average of $560/t fob. CIS billet suppliers have had to drop the prices to Turkey to $575-585/t c&f, against $590-600/t c&f a week earlier due to the aggressive price cuts of their competitors.
