According to the data maintained by SteelMint, Iran's
iron ore exports via bulk shipments in third month of current Persian year
(June'19) was recorded at 1.37 MnT, down 28% as against 1.91 MnT a month ago.
The exports in June'19 dropped back against recording 1 year high levels in
May'19. However, it should be noted that close to 17 iron ore vessels were seen
at anchorage position by end of last month which shows that Iranian exporters
have turned active post sharp price hike.
On yearly basis, the exports have depicted 21% rise as
compared to June'18 exports at 1.13 MnT.
Iran pellet exports up 23% in June'19
Iran's pellet exports for the month of June'19 recorded
at 0.05 MnT, up 23% as compared to 0.04 MnT in May'19.
Iranian iron ore exports to China down 26% M-o-M
China stood the largest and only importer of Iranian
iron ore in June'19 at 1.37 MnT, down 26% on monthly basis as against 1.85 MnT
a month ago. Iranian exports of iron ore to India marked nil for seventh
consecutive month in June'19 as it was last witnessed in Nov'18 at 0.05 MnT.
Iran turns to be world's 10th largest steel producer
According to World Steel Association, Iran became the
world's tenth largest steel producer in 2018.
The May'19 crude steel production witnessed rise of
3.8% Y-o-Y to 2.235 MnT against 2.153 MnT, according to the world steel
association (WSA). Also, the current Iranian year production is expected to
touch around 30 MnT. The country plans to increase its crude steel capacity
from about 30 MnT to about 55 MnT p.a. and exports to 20-25 MnT by 2025.
According to the WSO's report, Iran produced 25 MnT of crude steel in 2018, up
18% from 21.2 million tons in 2017.
Iranian Deputy Industry, Mining and Trade Minister for
Mining Affairs Jafar Sargini recently said that Iran's annual steel production
is planned to reach 45 MnT by the Iranian calendar year Mar'21-Mar'22. Sarqini
had also announced that Iran will inaugurate steel projects with the capacity
of at around 10 MnT during the current Iranian calendar year.
