World's second largest exporter of iron ore - Brazil
has recorded iron ore export volumes at 33.20 MnT in Dec'18, down slightly as
compared to Nov'18 exports at 33.97 MnT, according to trade statistics released
by Brazil customs. On yearly basis, Iron ore export by Brazil stood stable
compared to Dec'17 exports.
For CY'18, Brazilian iron ore exports increased 4% to
394.24 MnT as against 379.95 MnT in CY'17. In CY18, Chinese mills
increased preference for high grade ore from Brazilian miners to achieve better
profit margins.
Average iron ore prices up slightly in Dec'18
The average price of iron ore exported from Brazil for
Dec'18 witnessed at USD 55.2/MT, up slightly on monthly basis as against USD
54.8/MT in Nov'18.
The average price of iron ore in Dec'18 witnessed a rise of 18% compared to
Dec'17 price at USD 46.7/MT.Brazilian Anglo American Minas Rio resumes
operation in Dec'18, post closure for eight months since end of Mar'18. The
miner expects production ramp up to 1.2 MnT per month, provided it receives
permit by mid 2019.
