According to the World Steel Association (worldsteel, France produced some 1 million tons of crude steel in November 2008, a decrease of 29.1 percent from November 2007.
Among them, 517,000 tons were produced by blast furnaces and 518,000 tons by electric arc furnaces.
The first eleven months production decrease is relative minor at a 3.8 percent drop compared to the same period 2007 at 17.2 million tons.
Besides, total world crude steel production was 1.22 million tons in the first 11 months of 2008, down by a 0.9 percent from the same period in 2007.
