Iran steel market Trend in Week 22nd, 2018

Billet

Average price of billet started the week at USD 594.5/mt ex-work including 9%VAT last Saturday for sizes 125 and 150 mm but due to strike of truck drivers which has continued from previous week, there was no deal in the market. By Wednesday transportation from some cities started mostly for 6 meter length billet. Then some cargoes from Neishabour and northern part of the country were transported by trucks. By Wednesday average price of billet was USD 605/mt and by the afternoon the market became quiet gain.

Actually trucks are not transporting cargoes from important cities for steel market such as Ahwaz and Isfahan which will continue this week due to holidays. Until trucks working became normal, market would be cautious and waiting for possible declines.

long products

Average price of debar diameter 8-32mm was USD 676/ mt ex-work including 9% VAT. Due to truck drivers' strike, long products market was almost stopped. Mills were offering from Monday but no activity in the market and prices didn't change.

Flat products

Average price of imported HRC 2 mm thickness didn't change significantly last week in Iran from USD 711/mt to USD 712/ mt on truck in Anzali including 9%VAT and custom duties as market was stopped. In domestic market, for thicknesses 2.5 -15 mm, strikes made market quiet and price changed from USD 682/mt to USD 931 /mt ex-work including 9%VAT.  Small deals done and made prices rise. For HRP, market sentiment was the same as deals were just inside provinces and average price reached USD 716/mt ex-work including VAT.

Transportation problem was also seen in CRC market as price stayed around USD 851/mt. HDG market sentiment was also the same.
