Billet
During last week, domestic billet sizes 125 and 150 mm didn’t
change significantly in Iran. Private mills’ average price started the week at
USD 587 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT, then dropped to USD 581 /mt and rose
again to USD 587.4 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT by end of the week.
Big mills billet price was down as Khazar steel co billet price
declined from USD 624 /mt to USD 600 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT. Other mills’
prices were almost the same. Generally, buyers are cautious and sellers are
confused. DRI price is stable at the moment and is in limited supply, therefore
billet price has reached the bottom level. Scrap price may drop too but in Holy
month of Ramadan its supply level drops and we can say market is experiencing
bottom price of billet at the moment.
Long products
Debar price experienced some marginal declines during last week in
Iran. Average price of debar diameter 8-32 mm started the week at USD 679/mt ex-work
including 9% VAT by Saturday and reached USD 669/mt by Tuesday. Esfahan Steel
co debar deal at IME by Monday at base price of USD 624 /mt ex-work excluding
9% VAT helped market sentiment as participants became sure that minimum average
finished price would be around USD 667 /mt.
As holy month of Ramadan has begun, market would be quiet for a while
and is not likely to fluctuate much.
I-beam price was downward during last week as average price of
sizes 14-18 mm dropped from USD 742/mt ex-work Esfahan to USD 732/mt ex-work
including 9% VAT and transactions level was also limited.
Flat Products
Imported HRC 2 mm thickness was USD 726 /mt on
truck in Anzali including 9% VAT by last Saturday and ended the week at USD 712
/mt. HRC 2.5 mm thickness was in limited supply like 2 previous weeks. For
thicknesses 3-15 mm price declined from USD 704.5 /mt to USD 692 /mt by end of
the week. Demand was limited and there was no interest in deals.
Oxin co plate thickness 8-40 mm experienced
some upward trend as rose from USD 711/mt to USD 717 /mt ex-work including 9%
VAT by Wednesday. The upward momentum was due to limited slab supply at IME and
also change in conversion fees for converting slab to flat products
which affected prices. Kavian co supply level was limited during last week but
is expected to improve in coming weeks.
CRC market was almost stable during last week
as average price of thickness 0.40-2 mm started the week at USD 853 /mt and finished
it at USD 847/mt including 9% VAT. By Monday, Mobarakeh Steel co sold 23,000
tones of its CRC at base price of 699 /mt excluding VAT which is equal to USD 762/mt
including 9% VAT.
But finished price for imported CRC ( USD 640/mt cfr Anzali) would be around
USD 774 /mt on truck in Anzali including 9% VAT and custom duties. Therefore,
it is unlikely to rise more as if Mobarakeh Steel co increase its prices,
interest in imported cargoes would rise.
HDG price was downward as sizes 0.40-2 mm dropped
by USD 11 /mt to USD 1002 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT. Buyers were also
interested in more discounts.
