According to the statistics from Ukrmetallurgprom, the production
of Ukrainian steel totaled around 4.6 million tons in the first quarter,
increased by 25.1% compared with the same period of last year.
Among them, the exports totaled around 3.8 million tons, down by 3.5% compared
with the same period of last year.
The exports of Ukrainian semi-finished steel accounted for 42% of the total in
the first quarter; followed by those of finished steel which accounted for
32.6% of the total; followed by those of long products which accounted for
32.6% of the total.
In the same period, Ukrainian steel exports to the EU were around 1.3 million
tons, accounting for 34% of the total; followed by North Africa with around
950,000 tons, accounting for 25% of the total; followed by the Middle East with
around 675,000 tons, accounting for 18% of the total.
Besides, Ukrainian steel consumption was around 1.1 million tons in the first
quarter, increased by 13% compared with the same period of last year. The
imports totaled around 290,000 tons, accounting for 27.6% of the total.
As for the imports, Commonwealth of Independent States ranked first with the
largest Ukrainian steel imports of around 130,000 tons, accounting for 44.5% of
the total; followed by the EU with around 85,000 tons, accounting for 29% of
the total; followed by Asia Pacific with around 67,000 tons, accounting for 23%
of the total.
