According to the statistics from Turkish Iron and Steel Producers'
Association (TCUD), Turkey imported around 1.5 million tons of steel this
March, up by 7.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Among them, the imports of semi-finished steel were around 640,000 tons, a
year-on-year increase of 49%; those of steel plate were around 670,000 tons, a
year-on-year decrease of 13%; those of long products were around 140,000 tons,
a year-on-year increase of 16%.
In the same period, the exports of Turkish steel amounted to around 1.8 million
tons in March, down by 9.7% compared to the same period a year ago.
Among them, the exports of semi-finished steel were around 30,000 tons, a
year-on-year decrease of 84.3%; those of steel plate were around 440,000 tons,
a year-on-year increase of 11.4%; those of long products were around 1 million
tons, a year-on-year increase of 1%.
