Billet
Billet price was stable during last week in
Iran. Size 150 mm was USD 426/mt ex-work including 9% VAT and size 125 mm was USD
421.5 /mt ex-work. By Wednesday Khorasan Steel co billet was offered at USD 445
/mt ex-work including 9% VAT but had no demand. Some talks were heard about
imported billet at Anzali port but custom affairs of it has not finished yet. It
was heard that Kave Kish Steel co has sold 10,000 tones of its billet at base
price of USD 400/mt ex-work excluding VAT, which would be USD 436 /mt ex-work
including VAT. Due to the longer distance of this mill with consumers, its
price would be almost equal to Khorasan Steel co product after transportation
fees added.
DRI supply level has declined significantly
due to maintenance at two mills and scrap price has also surged, but long product
market sadness has made billet demand scarce. Unchanged prices of billet were
due to the same reason of limited demand. Production cost of billet has risen
but lack of demand has made price stable.
Coming Lunar New Year Holidays in Fareast has
made export billet demand lower. In global markets billet price has declined by
USD30/mt. Iranian mills are offering at USD485-500/mt fob in export market.
Long
products
Debar price stayed unchanged during last week
in Iran. Average price of debar diameter 14-32 mm was USD 538 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT. Roohina steel co debar was USD 500 /mt but by end
of week increased its discounts level by USD 4/ mt.
I-beam price dropped a
little. Average price of sizes 14,16,18 in Esfahan market was USD 603 /mt ex-work
including 9% VAT which reached USD 602/mt by end of the week.
Flat Products
HRC 2 mm thickness was downward in Iran. But higher
ex-rate made downward trend slower. By last Saturday its price was USD 601 /mt ex-work
including 9% VAT and custom duties and finished the week at USD 597.5 /mt. lack
of demand and higher domestic supply level which is cheaper by USD 40 /mt
compared with import products has made HRC market sentiment negative and
downward. Pipe and can producers are eager to buy from domestic producers in this
situation. For thickness 2.5 and 3 mm , supply level was limited. Sizes 3-15 mm
didn’t change in price significantly at around USD 554/mt. For thickness 10-40 mm, Oxin co price was
stable at USD 538 /mt and Kavian co HRP
price was also unchanged mainly due to lack of demand.
CRC market was downward. Higher supply of
Mobarakeh Steel products in domestic market has made it more depressed especially
for thicknesses 0.8 – 1.5 mm. Generally, CRC demand level is scarce and is
expected to became worse in future.
HDG market was unchanged and supply-demand
level is balanced.
