Billet market was upward during last week in Iran. By last Saturday
billet size 150 mm was offered by private mills at USD 468.5 /mt and size 125

Higher billet price has made scrap market active as its price

Iran need to expand its billet export level as current production
capacity is more than domestic needs.
Long
products
Average price of debar size 14-32 mm started
last week at USD 556 /mt ex-work Esfahan including 9% VAT. In Dezfool market it
was USD 526 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT. Market was quiet till Monday when
billet price was upward. As Esfahan Steel co sold its billet at USD 464 /mt
ex-work excluding VAT, long products market sentiment became positive and
traders accepted upward trend of billet, therefore they increased debar
purchases and made inventory level high.
Esfahan Steel co debar size 14 and 16 mm was
limited and higher purchases made prices upward. As by last Wednesday average
price of Esfahan Steel co debar reached USD 559 /mt and Roohina Steel co product
in Dezfool was USD 535.5 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT.
As billet price is upward debar market will
also improve in near future. But there are also some risks such as low demand
in global markets due to New Year Holidays.
I-beam market was almost stable during last
week in Iran as sizes 14-18 mm improved by just USD 2 /mt to USD 655 /mt ex-work
including 9% VAT but demand level was limited.
Flat Products
HRC 2 mm thickness was stable at around USD 672 /mt on truck in
Anzali including 9% VAT and custom duties despite rises in global markets. High
supply level has made prices unchanged. During last Iranian month HRC 2 mm
thickness import level reached 76254 tones the highest rate during last 9 months.
Besides domestic supply level is also available. Average price of sizes 2.5-15
mm in domestic market was USD 602 /mt ex-work Esfahan including 9% VAT which
stayed almost unchanged till end of the week due to market depression and lack
of demand.
HRP market was upward for sizes of higher than 15 mm for Oxin co
products. Its price rose from USD 571 /mt to USD 581 /mt ex-work including 9%
VAT. Kavian co HRP price also rose due to low supply level. Thickness 15-25 mm
of the mill rose from USD 548 /mt to USD 557 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT.
Kavian co supply level for sizes lower than 15 mm and higher than 30 mm was
limited.
CRC market was quiet. By middle of last week, thickness lower than
0.60 mm experienced higher price and made average price of CRC rose from USD 759.5
/mt to USD 764 /mt on truck in Anzali including 9% VAT and custom duties. As
global markets prices have been upward recently, market participants expect CRC
price upward in coming weeks. But another point is that inventory level of CRC
is high and more than 50,000 tones of CRC has been imported from 23 Oct – 21 Nov
and a month later it dropped to 19,000 tones.
HDG market was in limited supply for some sizes especially
thickness 0.90- 1.5 mm which made prices up by USD 5 /mt and reached USD 907 /mt ex-work including 9%
VAT by end of the week.
