Billet
Billet price was downward during last week in
Iran. Billet size 150 mm started the week on Monday at USD 442/mt ex-work
including 9%VAT and size 125 mm was USD 435 /mt ex-work including VAT. Market
was quiet and this made prices downward. On Wednesday size 150 mm reached USD
435/mt and size 125 mm was USD 430 /mt ex-work including VAT. Some mills were
also dealing under USD 427/mt ex-work. By Thursday prices were up by USD 5/mt. The
reason behind downward trend of Monday and Tuesday was high competition between
sellers, but after declining inventory levels they resisted against lower
prices. Market was close by beginning of the week due to Religious Mourning
Holidays, this quiet market activity made prices downward. Generally, market is
faced with lack of demand too.
Long products
Long products started declining by last Tuesday and became stable
on Wednesday. Average price of debar size 14-25 mm started the week at USD 540
/mt ex-work Dezfool for Roohina Steel co product on Monday and was down by USD 2.5
/mt by Wednesday. Esfahan Steel co origin debar also dropped by USD 2.5 /mt to
reach USD 573 /mt ex-work including 9% VAT.
I-beam average price also declined from USD 686 /mt to USD 685 /mt
ex-work Esfahan including VAT.
Market was not much active during last week due to religious
mourning Holidays, therefore market insiders expect demand level increase this
week. Generally, demand level won’t be much different this year. Establishment
of new mills in coming months would increase domestic market competition. Electrode
shortage would increase in near future which would affect billet and debar
production seriously.
