MetalBiz reported that due to the steady growth of the electricity power consumption, China Electricity Council expects that the electricity coal demand still kept a high point in 2010.
The report from CEC claimed that power generation and consumption will remain at the very high level in H1 of 2010 and it is difficult to change the tight coal supply situation in short term. It is estimated that the supply of the electricity coal in China's power generation was estimated to reach 1.6 billion tonnes around in 2010.
Some analysts believed that the coal consumption will reach 1.66 billion tonnes in 2010. According the statistics, China's coal for the generation was 1.4 billion tonnes in 2009.
Take the rising of heating supply into account, it is estimated that the coal supply was estimated to be 160 million tonnes around, so the coal consumption can reach 1.56 billion tonnes in 2009. If the electricity consumption rose by 9%, the coal consumption would reach 1.66 billion tonnes around up 6% over 2009.
Nevertheless, the contract price of the electricity coal was lower than the expectation in 2010. Different from 2009, both sides signed a contract quickly in the coal and electricity negotiation in 2010.
