Billet
Billet price was upward during last week in Iran. Private
mills were offering billet size 150 mm last Saturday at USD 326 /mt ex-work
including 9% VAT and size 125 mm at USD 324 /mt. Khouzestan Steel co was not
offering but Khorasan Steel Co billet was available at up to USD 337 /mt
ex-work including VAT.
By Sunday billet price was suddenly upward. Billet size 150
mm reached USD 331 /mt and size 125 mm at USD 326 /mt. By Monday they picked as
both sizes increased another USD 8 /mt. By Tuesday market stepped back.
Prices reached USD 337 /mt and USD 334/mt
ex-work including VAT respectively for sizes 150 and 125 mm.
Long Products
Long products started week 07th
downward. Average price of debar diameter 14-25 mm was USD 418 /mt and I-beam
size 14-18 mm was USD 481 /mt ex-work Esfahan including 9% VAT.
By Sunday prices started rising due to
mills’ policies and reached USD 434 /mt for debar diameter 14-25mm ex-work
Esfahan. By middle of the week prices were downward again as debar price
reached USD 421 /mt and I-beam was USD 483 /mt.
These fluctuation was not due to better
demand. Just producers were changing market direction with their policies.
Other long products were upward by
first half of the week up to USD 18 /mt but by Monday onward prices were
unchanged.
Flat Products
HRC 2 mm thickness was upward during last week. It improved
by USD 18 /mt to reach USD 579 /mt on truck in Anzali / BIK ports including 9%
VAT and custom duties. The material inventory level at ports has declined and
market participants expect upward trend in price continue. It has been around 6
months that import prices cannot compete with domestic prices. CIS origin is
USD 440-450/mt cfr Northern ports which has been unchanged from January. If
domestic prices rise, Iranian buyers would prefer importing CIS HRC.
HRC 2.5-5 mm thickness was in supply shortage and this made
prices up by USD 5-10 /mt. For thickness 6-12 mm, market inventory was almost
none and made price up by USD 26 /mt. some market participants believe bad
weather condition and transportation stoppage has made supply unavailable.
In City of Ahwaz in south of Iran, dusty weather which has
cut energy supply made HRC supply level worse. Thickness 15 mm is
unavailable.
CRC market was quiet. Market inventory level is
low but winter weather has almost stopped demand level too. Thickness 0.60 mm
is clearly almost unavailable.
HDG market was also in limited supply and
demand. Prices were upward but slowly.
