According to statistics released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance,
the Japanese steel industry purchased 2.07 million tons of scraps in March,
falling by 8.3% year on year.
Among them, 1.947 million tons were carbon scraps, decreasing by 8.1%; 86,000
tons were alloy scraps, falling by 11.1% and 43,000 tons were pig iron scraps,
down by 8.8%, all compared to those in the same period of a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Japanese steel industry’s scrap consumption was at 2.97 million
tons, decreasing by 13.6% year on year.
