Russel Metals, Ontario-based
metals service center posted profit in the first quarter totaled US$19 million,
falling from US$29 million in the same period of a year earlier.
The firm’s incomes amounted to around US$900 million. The shipemnts from its
metals service center decreased by 3% year on year. Its gross margins were at
20.0%, lower than 21.7% in the first quarter of 2014.
In addition, the sales revenues from its steel distribution segment rose by 36%
year on year to US$119 million in the first quarter.
