According to data released by the American Iron and Steel
Institute (AISI), the US’s crude steel output totaled 1.655 million short tons
in the week ended on April 18th, increasing by 2.1% from a week ago while down
by 10.1% in comparison of the figures in the same week in 2014.
In the given period of time, the capability utilization of the US steelmakers
averaged at 70.0%, lower than 76.6% from the same period of a year ago.
Crude steel output totaled 26.421 million short tons in this year ended on
April 18th.
