According to the recent data published by the World
Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production
by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 6.0% during the month
of February year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by Byelorussia
surged higher by 28.9% during February this year to 205,000 tonnes from 159,000
tonnes in February 2014. Kazakhstan produced 231,000 tonnes of crude steel,
down 10.7% when compared to 259,000 tonnes production achieved during February
last year. Moldova recorded 19,000 tonnes steel output during the month. The
total crude steel production by Russia was up by 5.6% from 5.435 Million tonnes
in February 2014 to 5.739 Million tonnes this February.
There was marked decline in Ukraine’s crude steel
output in February. Ukraine’s total crude steel output declined sharply by
33.2% to 1.588 Million tonnes in February 2015 when compared with the output of
2.377 Million tonnes during February last year. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel
output declined by 14% during the month.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel
output for the first two months in 2015 in comparison with those during same
period in 2014.
