Tokyo Steel hikes scrap purchase prices by up to JPY 1,000 - 10 Aug 09

It is reported that Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has increased what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by JPY 500 to JPY 1,000 per tonne at its four works, effective with August 4th 2009 purchases.

As per report, a price increase of JPY 500 per tonne applies to all grades of arrivals at the Okayama, Kyushu, and Takamatsu works in the west of the nation. Another price increase of JPY 1,000 per tonne applies to all grades of arrivals at the Utsunomiya works in the Kanto area.

As a result, the new delivered prices of number 2 HMS are JPY 30,500 per tonne for seaborne arrivals and JPY 29,500 per tonne for overland arrivals at the Okayama works, JPY 28,500 per tonne for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Kyushu works, JPY 29,000 per tonne for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works and JPY 29,500 per tonne for overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works.
