Billet
Billet price was almost stable during last week in Iran. Lower
production rate of some small domestic mills led to around Rials100,000/mt
increase in some sizes of domestic billets. Esfahan Steel Co sold its 150 mm
billet at base price of Rials15.4million/mt at IME ( Iran Mercantile Exchange)
by last Sunday. Afterward Khouzestan Steel Co sold its billet at base price of Rials15.29million/mt
at IME on Monday.
These transactions show that billet price is downward in Iran. It
should be also noted that these 2 producers use iron ore and DRI as raw
material, so there is more space for lowering prices.
Billet import level decreased, but its price was unchanged at
Rials17 million /mt on truck in Anzali including 8% VAT. Limited demand level
won’t let prices change and would just affect small mills production level. If scrap price decline, billet market would
face some changes in prices.
Long products
Debar prices dropped by up to Rials100,000/mt following lower base
price of billet at IME. Significant change in debar price is unlikely as prices
are at the bottom and mills can’t afford to decrease prices more.
I-beam price was also downward, just INSIG Co supply level has
declined significantly due to higher export rate.
Other sections such as angle and channel were quiet and dropped by
up to Rials100,000/mt. ex-rate fluctuations didn’t influence these depressed
markets.
Flat Products
Higher ex-rate made HRC 2 mm thickness upward by beginning of last
week to more than Rials21million/mt, but prices started declining by middle of
the week to around Rials20.6million/mt on truck in Anzali including 8% VAT and
custom duty.
Price of HRC thickness 2.5-10 mm was almost stable, just size 3 and
4 mm were a little upward due to lack of supply. HRP market was unchanged and
quiet.
CRC market was unchanged despite limited supply due to lack of demand.
HDG market was also quiet like previous weeks.
