As reported by Madan24, sanctions against Iran and the increasing competitive situation in domestic market, has made some steel mills in private sector decrease capacity at some production lines.
Besides, Iran crude steel production has improved by 9% during first 8 months of the current Iranian year ( 21 March 13 -21 November 13) to 10,549,191 tones, as compared with same time last year.
When comparing Iran crude steel production during first 7 months of current year( 21 Mar-22 Oct) with same time last year, it shows 9% improvement , from 8.431 million tones last year to 9.174 million tones this year. Just 592,000 tones of this year production ( first 7 months) belongs to private sector mills and 8.583 million tones to state mills which means 93.55% of the total.
Also it has been reported that state mills have produced 6.937 million tones of steel products during first 7 months of current year which shows 5% decline against same period last year. Private sector producers also experienced decline in production level during the same time which reached 2.799 million tones of steel products down by 7% y-o-y. Totally around 9.736 million tones of steel products has been produced by all steel mills in Iran during this period, which shows 6% decline y-o-y.

The report also show decline in crude steel and steel products import level during first 7 months of current Iranian year. Steel products import level has dropped by 36% y-o-y to 1.552 million tones. Crude steel import level decreased by 72% from 1.975 million tones same time last year to 552,000 tones this year.
But Iran steel export has improved in the same time. Steel products export level was up by 11% to 1.29 million tones. Crude steel export level improved by 590% from just 22,000 tones to 153,000 tones during first 7 months of this Iranian year .
