In the third week of May, scrap price continued to go up on the Russian market. A part of the mills in the Ural and central Russian have lifted their purchasing price for scrap.
In addition, currently, the scrap prices are almost the same at all areas in Russia, indicating that it has reached the balance between demand and supply.
A3 scrap is quoted at US$147-186/ton in Ural and US$167-192/ton in central Russia, up by US$13-19/ton and US$6/ton respectively.
Moreover, the demand for scrap from Europe has not rebounded although some exporters have cut their offer. As for the Ukraine, most mills didn’t lift the purchasing price because they believe it would do little help to stimulate the transaction.
