According to the data provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in September this year Turkey's total steel billet exports amounted to 177,479 metric tons, decreasing by 39.82 percent year on year and down 99.3 percent compared to the previous month. In August Turkey's steel bilet exports recorded a 46 percent increase from the previous month. Meanwhile, in September the revenue generated by steel billet exports totaled $127.5 million, decreasing 25.4 percent compared to September 2010 and down 32.7 percent month on month.
In September, the average export price of Turkish steel billet amounted to $719/mt, increasing by $21/mt or three percent from August.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of 2011, Turkey's steel billet exports declined by 27.98 percent, dropping to 1.83 million metric tons, while the revenue for these exports stood at $1.23 billion, down by 8.41 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
In the month in question, Turkey's steel billet exports to Saudi Arabia increased 21.17 percent, while its steel billet exports to Egypt increased 80 percent, both compared to August this year. Austria's steel imports from Turkey decreased by 21,5 percent in September from August levels.
