The CIS export market for square billet is quiet in late July: August output has been practically sold out, while active trading of September casting will start in about two weeks. At the same time, exporters from the Azov-Black Sea ports have started testing buyers with offers of billet produced in September. The Far Eastern market stays unchanged so far: suppliers make no offers of Russian billet to Asian buyers, while prices are moving up. Business activity remains slack in the Caspian region: a shortage of Russian semis has failed to stir Iranian customers up, while a Kazakh supplier has left the market for some time planning to raise prices for the rest of August output. But despite seasonally low buying in most sales destinations, export prices for square billet keep climbing due to visible shortage of material allocated for export.
(Source: www.metalexpert-group.com )
