Iran Steel Market Trend in Week 22

Billet

Last week billet price reached the bottom in Iran market, as a result many sellers stopped offering. By Sunday sections market situation was improved and helped billet price to increase. But it didn’t support transactions levels as sections market is in shortage of demand.

Billet price increased like sections till Tuesday and size 150 mm was priced at USD 684-694 /mt on truck in Anzali including 4% VAT but no deal was done. By end of the week it was around USD694-698/mt and some deals were done at these levels.

Exchange rate fluctuations and volatilities in billet offer prices from CIS made Iran market confused.

By Wednesday sellers and buyers went out of market to wait for new situation after the long weekend on Monday.

In import market, buying billet from Russia has some limitations and opening credit in Dubai has faced difficulties, so importing billet has been limited. As a result sellers are working very cautiously in the market.

Long product

Sections market started week 22 by an increasing trend, as prices had reached the bottom a week ago and sellers were not offering due to low prices.

I-beam average price was USD872/mt in Isfahan market. Till Tuesday prices were upward then face some fluctuations but finished the week at higher prices. I-beam was around USD888/mt on Thursday.

Debar price increased by USD10/mt till Sunday then didn’t change till end of the week and was around USD826/mt including 4% VAT in Tehran. Angle and UNP prices fluctuated like Debar.

Generally last week sections demand was so limited in Iran market and it’s expected to continue this week.

Flat products

Last Saturday HRC 2 mm was priced at USD764/mt on truck in Anzali including 4% VAT. Mobarakeh Steel and Kavian Steel products started week 22 by USD10-19/mt drop in prices but by Sunday prices were upward and this product finished the week at USD783/mt on truck in Anzali  including 4% VAT.

Some problems in transporting Mobareke Steel products made its price rise by USD 24 /mt during last week but no deal was done.

CRC market was silent during last week. HDG price was upward and its average price reached USD1, 150/mt. Oxin Steel products supply was limited last week and will continue this week, due to the long weekend.  It’s expected that CRC prices become stable in short term as summer holidays for steel mills will begin. But some increases in HRC and HDG price is possible. It should be noted that last week flats import market was almost unchanged.
