Japanese government foresees crude steel output fall by 2.8% q-o-q in Q2- 14 May 11

Japanese government said on this Tuesday that the country’s crude steel production in the Q2 might decline slightly.
Though the devastating earthquake might reduce the demand for steel from automobile industry in the Q2; the demand from the reconstruction after the disaster might compensate the lack.
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) made an investigation in 60 local steel mills. The estimated Q2 crude steel production of the 60 steel mills was at 26.89 million tons, declined by 2.8% from the Q1.
